US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that any civil nuclear cooperation deal with Saudi Arabia would require the kingdom to initially recognise Israel as part of the Abraham Accords. The statement goes against reports from earlier this month that both topics were not linked in recent months. Trump made the demand out in the open comments during a presser.
The proposed nuclear agreement has been a major plank for Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as part of the economic diversification plans. Saudi officials had not commented to the latest US stance.
