Highway 3 is shut from Hope to Manning Park, disrupting local traffic. Wildfire activity left both lanes unusable, halting travel. Travellers now exclusively use the Coquihalla Highway, avoiding the closure. The fire near Hope is burning northeast of the Coquihalla interchange, releasing thick smoke. Smoke is thick and clearly to see, reducing visibility. A second blaze broke out south of Boston Bar on Tuesday. This second fire affects 300 hectares. It compelled officials to close Highway 1 in the same area. Two key routes into southern BC are now blocked.
