Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and sailors serving aboard the USS Tripoli returned to the United States on Wednesday. They ended tours assigned to the 5th and 7th Fleets. In parallel, a large number of Marines and sailors stationed in Okinawa headed back to Japan after missions tied to the Iran situation. The Tripoli berthed at its home port in Okinawa, closing out its deployment. The U.S. Marines and the Royal Australian Air Force concluded joint drills at Dyess under the Trident Fury program this week. In Vancouver, the police marine unit rescued a one-week-old seal pup that was abandoned.
