Penarth appeared at a £20m sheltered homes project to deliver an extra-care complex for older people, featuring 70 affordable apartments and on-site care. Construction set to start within the summer of 2024 and expected to take around two years. The scheme is a joint effort by Vale of Glamorgan Council and Wales & West Housing, with land leased to WWH and funding from the Housing with Care Fund and Welsh Government's Social Housing Grant. Nearby developments include improvements to highway access and 32 affordable independent homes on nearby land. Officials describe it as a major step towards addressing housing needs for Penarth. Further updates are anticipated as plans progress.
