the St. George Dragons originated in Kogarah, NSW, as a foundation club of the NSWRL. Foundation member of NSWRL, dating back to 1908. They achieved notable success with 21 minor premierships and 11 premierships across their history. Reg Gasnier, Norm Provan, and Graeme Langlands stood out among their stars. In 1999 the team relocated to the Illawarra region and became the St. George Illawarra Dragons, retaining the Dragons nickname. Kogarah Oval hosted home games with roughly 22,000 seats. Their development programs supported sustained success in the NRL era. The Dragons name remains a core identity for the Illawarra partnership.
