A majority of members in the Australian Education Union’s Victoria branch voted against the government’s newest pay deal, prompting public school teachers to strike.

The AEU announced the withdrawal of labor when the vote revealed 51 percent opposed the revised proposal.

A strike is now confirmed and scheduled to move forward and no further bargaining slated at this stage.

Public school students are likely to experience interruptions as educators leave their posts.
