UAE Team Emirates XRG received a first yellow card in this year's race following a stage penalty. A team mechanic was charged and handed a official card after a mechanical problem with rider Isaac del Toro during Stage 2. Del Toro went on to win the stage for UAE Team Emirates XRG with a late attack. The penalty was imposed by race officials after the occurrence. The team announced it will settle the fine and take the card.
