Australia's superannuation system is drawing sharp criticism after a Labor minister put forward a funding concept that prompted widespread criticism from financial media and industry observers. The AFR, The Australian, and The Nightly have each raised concerns against turning superannuation into a policy lever, with some commentators describing the direction as "dangerous territory."

Separately, super funds have been flagged for attention over a rate tipping point, according to Super Review. The alert suggests growing pressure on fund performance that managers will need to address. Meanwhile, reform proposals from One Nation and the Coalition are being criticised as inadequate, with the AFR reporting both plans fail to address a key structural gap in the system.
